The Research Assistant I (Research Technician I) will support ongoing research projects by assisting in the maintenance and generation of genetically modified mouse models. This entry‑level position is designed for recent graduates in biological sciences. While prior laboratory or animal experience is helpful, it is not required. Comprehensive hands‑on training will be provided for specialized procedures.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with mice, motivated to learn, and dedicated to contributing actively within a laboratory team environment.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain genetically modified mouse colonies and assist with related procedures
- Support the generation of genetically modified mice (training provided)
- Perform basic molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction and PCR
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and communicate regularly with the supervisor
- Follow established protocols and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
- Participate actively in laboratory meetings, training sessions, and collaborative projects
- Comply with all institutional animal care and biosafety regulations
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field
- Comfortable working with mice and performing laboratory procedures
- Responsible, dependable, and motivated to engage in research
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Willingness to commit to the role to develop skills and contribute meaningfully
The posted pay range reflects Boston Children’s Hospital’s good‑faith estimate at the time of posting. Base pay is determined by factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and other job‑related considerations.
