GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

, based at MGH Institute for Technology Assessment and Harvard Medical School, seeks two postdoctoral fellows to join a new project funded by the U.S. FDA. Working in an interdisciplinary research group, the postdoctoral fellows will directly report to the Principal Investigator (Dr. Jalali) and have the opportunity to work with the team of investigators at Harvard, Stanford, Cornell, Boston University, University of Southern California, and Oregon State University. The candidates will also supervise research associates and interns and will be involved in the preparation of grant applications. PROJECT:

Following our current development of a system dynamics simulation model (2018-present), the goal of this new project is to work collaboratively with FDA to expand the model to include a cost-effectiveness analysis of interventions and policies to reduce opioid-related illnesses, including opioid misuse, use disorder, and overdose.

Area 1 : We will broaden the scope of the model to account for impacts resulting from opioid-related illnesses-such as reduced quality of life, lost productivity, costs to society, and the intended and unintended outcomes resulting from opioid-related policies and interventions (e.g., increased untreated pain)-on individuals and society that go beyond the outcomes currently included in the model.

Area 2 : To enhance area 1, we will utilize social network analysis and natural language processing, estimating individual's perceptions and social influence within the network of opioid users.

    • Area 2:

strong publication track record in both of these subjects is preferred:
      • social network analysis
      • natural language processing
