Proficient Auto Logistics (PAL) is a leading specialized freight company focused on providing auto transportation and logistics services. As a combined entity, we operate one of the largest auto transportation fleets in North America with over 1,200 trucks, 55 terminal locations and 800 employees, a majority of whom are drivers.

We offer a broad range of auto transportation and logistics services, primarily focused on transporting finished vehicles from automotive production facilities, marine ports of entry, or regional rail yards to auto dealerships around the country. We have developed a differentiated business model due to our scale, breadth of geographic coverage, and embedded customer relationships with leading auto original equipment manufacturing companies (OEMs).

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Shop Maintenance Technician to support daily operations in our diesel truck repair facility. This position is responsible for performing general shop maintenance and assisting with preventative maintenance tasks on equipment, including graphiting posts on auto haulers. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance
  • Graphite posts on auto haulers as part of preventative maintenance procedures
  • Assist technicians with basic service and maintenance tasks as needed
  • Inspect shop equipment for proper operation and report issues to management
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs and upkeep on shop tools and equipment
Shop Maintenance & Organization
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop floors, work areas, and storage spaces
  • Sweep, mop, and remove debris from work areas daily
  • Dispose of used parts, scrap materials, and fluids in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines
  • Restock shop supplies and maintain inventory of maintenance materials
  • Maintain a safe working environment for technicians and staff
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company safety procedures
  • Ensure safety equipment is properly stocked and accessible
  • Maintain a safe working environment for technicians and staff
General Support
  • Move equipment and vehicles within the yard as needed (if licensed and authorized)
  • Perform seasonal maintenance tasks such as snow removal or facility upkeep
  • Support management with additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience in a mechanical shop or maintenance role preferred
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus but not required)
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced shop environment
  • Strong attention to detail and safety
Physical Requirements
  • Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods
  • Working in varying shop temperatures and conditions
  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy materials
