Position Overview

The Assistant General Manager serves as the operational right hand to the Director of Retail Operations and plays a critical leadership role in the day‑to‑day execution of retail operations at Trailhead Cannabis Company.

This position is responsible for helping lead store operations, supporting team accountability, driving operational consistency, and ensuring a high‑quality customer experience. The role exercises independent judgment in directing daily workflow, assigning responsibilities, resolving operational issues, and supporting overall retail performance.

The Assistant General Manager is expected to help build operational structure within the business by developing and maintaining tools, checklists, communication processes, workflow systems, and accountability standards that improve consistency, efficiency and execution across the retail operation.

This role also plays an important part in inventory management, METRC compliance, and maintaining operational readiness in a highly regulated cannabis environment.

Responsibilities Retail Operations & Execution
  • Support the day‑to‑day retail operation alongside the Director of Retail Operations
  • Serve as Manager on Duty during assigned shifts with responsibility for overall operational execution
  • Help ensure smooth daily operations across front door, sales floor, POS, inventory flow and customer experience
  • Monitor store conditions, team execution and workflow efficiency throughout the day
  • Identify operational gaps and proactively implement solutions
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized and customer‑ready retail environment
  • Help reinforce operational discipline, urgency and accountability across the team
Team Leadership & Accountability
  • Help direct the work of Trail Guides and retail team members during assigned shifts
  • Assign daily work responsibilities and ensure appropriate floor coverage
  • Provide real‑time coaching, feedback and direction to team members
  • Reinforce company expectations, service standards and compliance requirements
  • Support performance accountability through observation, documentation and leadership communication
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new employees
  • Help create a positive, team‑oriented culture built around accountability and customer experience
Scheduling & Workforce Coordination
  • Support scheduling efforts to ensure proper staffing coverage based on business demands
  • Assist with shift assignments, break coordination and day‑to‑day labor deployment
  • Help manage call‑outs, scheduling adjustments and operational coverage needs
  • Monitor labor efficiency and communicate staffing recommendations to leadership
  • Assist leadership in maintaining operational continuity during peak business periods
Operational Process Development
  • Develop and maintain operational tools including:
  • Daily checklists
  • Opening and closing procedures
  • Communication logs
  • Workflow trackers
  • Accountability tools
  • Retail operational SOPs
  • Help establish structure and consistency within the retail operation
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, communication and team execution
  • Assist leadership in implementing operational improvements and process changes
