Maintenance Supervisor - Manufacturing Operations

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead day-to-day facility and equipment maintenance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime, driving preventive maintenance discipline, managing technical staff, and supporting safe, efficient, and cost-effective plant operations.

You will serve as a key leader within the plant management team, partnering closely with operations, EHS, HR, and external vendors to ensure equipment reliability, production continuity, and continuous improvement across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Leadership & Operations
  • Lead daily maintenance operations across building systems and production equipment to minimize downtime and operational disruption
  • Supervise and direct technical/maintenance staff, including job assignments, daily crewing, vacation planning, and performance management
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership in mechanical, electrical, and controls systems in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
Preventive Maintenance & Reliability
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a structured preventive maintenance (PM) program
  • Analyze equipment failure trends and develop cost-effective maintenance strategies to improve reliability and reduce downtime
  • Ensure proper execution of maintenance, repair, and inspection programs across all equipment and systems
Systems, Inventory & Cost Control
  • Maintain strong control over maintenance-related inventory, including parts usage, stock levels, and reconciliation processes
  • Support budgeting and spend management related to maintenance operations, parts, and equipment repairs
  • Partner with vendors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement and service delivery
Accountability & Team Management
  • Establish clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable for safety, quality, and productivity standards
  • Provide coaching, training, and development to ensure consistent execution of maintenance procedures and best practices
  • Administer training programs related to equipment operation, preventive maintenance, and safety compliance
Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Drive a strong safety culture by enforcing safe work practices, housekeeping standards, and regulatory compliance
  • Support EHS programs, emergency response readiness, and fire protection systems
  • Collaborate with plant leadership to identify continuous improvement opportunities impacting safety, uptime, quality, and cost
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Work closely with production teams to support uptime, throughput goals, and operational efficiency
  • Coordinate with external contractors, utilities, and municipal agencies as needed
  • Participate in capital planning, budget development, and project execution
  • Lead or support special projects to improve plant performance and reliability
Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Associate Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or distribution maintenance environments
  • Experience in a high-speed or continuous manufacturing environment strongly preferred
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and parts management systems
  • Working knowledge of building systems and facility maintenance
  • Experience with printing presses or similar industrial equipment is a plus
Leadership & Core Competencies
  • Proven ability to lead and develop technical teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong accountability mindset with ability to drive performance and standards compliance
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills across all levels of an organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience using data to drive decisions
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement tools such as 5S, Six Sigma, or process optimization (preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Windows systems)
