Yard Worker

Overview

Our client is looking for a dependable and physically capable Yard Worker to join their busy team with the potential of an immediate start for the right candidate. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys practical work in an outdoor environment and takes pride in maintaining a safe, well-organised yard. The position offers an excellent opportunity to build skills in materials handling, warehouse operations, mechanical tasks, and logistics within a fast-paced setting.

• Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment, including forklifts and side loaders
• Maintain a tidy, organised, and safe yard environment
• Operate warehouse management systems to monitor stock levels and inventory movements
• Store and handle materials safely in line with health and safety standards
• Support shipping and receiving operations, preparing goods for dispatch and receipt
• Carry out basic mechanical tasks, including minor equipment maintenance and repairs
• Assist with construction-related duties such as site preparation and small repairs
• Operate a timber treatment plant
• Conduct routine safety checks on equipment and yard areas
• Work closely with colleagues to improve efficiency and productivity

• Previous warehouse or yard experience preferred but not essential (full training provided)
• Forklift and/or side loader experience is an advantage
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems is beneficial
• Physically fit with the ability to carry out manual handling tasks
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Strong organisational skills with a focus on health and safety
• Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
