Position: Teacher of IT (with the opportunity to contribute to Computer Science) 0.6-1.0 FTE

Overview

St Brendan's Sixth Form College is seeking a passionate Teacher of IT and digital skills to join our thriving department, with the opportunity to collaborate with and contribute to Computer Science as part of a supportive department. There is the opportunity to develop into teaching Computer Science at KS5, with full support, shared planning and subject-specific CPD. Whether you are an experienced teacher, an Early Career Teacher, or a digital professional considering a move into education, this is an opportunity to teach post-16 students in a highly supportive environment where your focus can remain on excellent teaching and learning.

Your enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and commitment to working as part of a team are more important than prior experience across the full computing curriculum.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching only post-16 students
  • No tutor group responsibilities
  • No break or lunchtime duties
  • Dedicated pastoral and progress tutor teams
  • Timetabled student support and enrichment rather than after hours
  • Collaborative planning and shared resources
  • Strong departmental support and mentoring
  • Flexible working opportunities, including part-time and job-share arrangements
What you ll teach

You will contribute to our successful and growing digital curriculum, including:

  • Teaching IT at Level 3 as the subject develops
  • Contributing to Level 2 IT and A Level Computer Science over time
  • A curriculum emphasis on:
  • Preparing students for a digital world and the career pathways this can lead to
  • Developing practical, real-world digital skills
  • Contribution to enrichment opportunities where appropriate including our Cyber EPQ

As digital qualifications continue to evolve—including exciting developments such as the upcoming V Level pathways—the department is committed to supporting teachers to grow their subject knowledge and confidence over time.

Essential:
