Job Summary
The Lien Filing & Release Section Manager provides direct leadership to teams of Commercial Loan Collateral Specialists and Contractors, overseeing both lien perfection and lien release activities. The primary objective is to minimize risk to the bank by ensuring all lien-related processes are executed in accordance with department procedures and in compliance with state/county statutory requirements. This role is responsible for both securing the bank's interest in client collateral and releasing liens when obligations are fulfilled.
Essential Functions
Lien Filing Responsibilities:
- Analyze loans/lines to determine proper documentation for collateral security.
- Communicate with county/state title bureaus and recorder offices regarding lien filing processes and requirements.
- Ensure timely filing for various collateral types: real estate, titles, UCCs, documented vessels.
- Resolve document exceptions with third-party vendors and business partners.
- Review trailing loan documents to ensure documentation exceptions are resolved timely.
- Ensure regulatory and policy-compliant documentation to diminish risk.
- Validate loans are paid in full (principal, fees, interest) using various loan servicing systems.
- Review collateral to confirm it is not tied to other open loans/lines and servicing rights are intact.
- Prepare, execute, notarize, and file lien release documents with appropriate agencies.
- Provide coaching and training to ensure teams meet daily service level, quality, and productivity goals.
- Actively manage risk and drive process improvement.
- Collaborate with peers, business partners, and support resources to achieve department and segment goals.
- Ensure policies and procedures are current, effectively implemented, and supported by timely and appropriate training.
- Serve as a role model by consistently demonstrating strong leadership behaviors and reinforcing Key Bank values.
- Perform other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- Comply with all Key Bank policies and procedures, including acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key's clients and Key.
- Bachelor's Degree of Business Administration (BBA) with a focus on Business Law, Operations, or Accounting (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- Some college coursework, preferably in Business, Legal, Compliance, or Information Technology.
- ABA Certificate of Lending Compliance and/or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred)
- 2+ years of proven experience in operations leadership, preferably in financial services/commercial loan product operations
- Experience in a fast-paced, back-office banking operation.
- Intermediate PC and MS Office skills; experience with mainframe and web-based applications
- General knowledge of commercial loan products (preferred)
- Knowledge of collateral documentation (preferred)
- Experience with CLS, Loan IQ, HOGAN and KVD applications (preferred)

Must be local to the Tiedeman Campus (Brooklyn, OH)
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $71,000.00 - $ annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
