Charge Nurse Registered Nurse

- Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with scope and standards of practice.
- Provides professional working conditions for employees.
- Ensures staffing performs all aspects of patient care in a safe environment and reduces errors.
- Assists with developing the nursing department budget alongside CEO and Controller; manages cost of personnel, equipment and supplies.
- Responsible for staffing plans, management of nursing hours per patient day, and quality of work of nursing staff.
- Assures compliance with nursing scope of practice and HIPAA.
- Enforces compliance of the department with education/in-service requirements, orientation and competencies.
- Leads monthly staff meetings and communicates information to/from management and leadership.
- Promotes rehabilitation nursing philosophy and practice; encourages staff development, including acquisition of CRRN for qualified nurses.
- Assists in reviewing and evaluating risk, quality indicators, patient satisfaction results and outcomes to improve performance; communicates information to department.
- Performs management activities including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, counseling and performance evaluations of staff in the department.
- Assures proper documentation, including medical necessity, by staff in medical records and monitors completion of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan.
- Ensures nursing education and training on Quality Indicators (QI); assures timely and accurate QI assessments and scoring.
- Ensures nursing attendance and participation in team conferences.
- Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis.
- Graduation from an accredited Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
- Current state licensure as Registered Nurse.
- CPR/BCLS certification. ACLS preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current CRRN or obtained within 2 years preferred.
