Job Description
We are currently seeking a DB2 Systems Programmer to join our team in Buffalo, New York (US-NY), United States (US).
JOB DESCRIPTION - This is a hybrid role. Candidates must live in, live or a commutable distance from Buffalo, New York.
We are adding a DB2 System Programmer to the US team as part of the DB2 Support Team to undertake all sys prog aspects of DB2 for z/OS.
The environment the team is responsible for is large, with 50+ DB2 subsystems across various mainframes and geographies.
Your responsibility as a DB2 System Programmer will be to ensure the performance, integrity, maintenance and security of our database estate in the US. You'll be involved in the planning and development of the databases, as well as in troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.
Responsibilities- Install and test new versions of DB2
- Provide 2nd and 3rd Level Support for applications that use DB2.
- Ensure support and management of distributed DB2 connections.
- Ensure stability and integrity of a highly responsive OLTP (CICS) DB2 environment.
- Establish the needs of users and monitor user access and security
- Monitor performance and manage parameters in order to provide fast responses to front-end users
- Develop, manage and test back‑up and recovery plans
- Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
- Carry out capacity planning
- Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
- Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of a database.
- Ensure there is provision for data security and recovery control (ensuring all data is retrievable in an emergency).
- Ensure that we use supported versions for all database and monitoring solutions.
- Ability to provide 2nd and 3rd level support for production incidents and application issues.
- Knowledge of DB2 security administration, access control, user authorization, and audit requirements.
- Good understanding of mainframe technologies such as z/OS, CICS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, RACF, SMP/E, VSAM, SDSF, and batch processing
. - Experience with DB2 performance and monitoring tools (OMEGAMON, IBM DB2 Query Monitor, BMC, CA/Broadcom, RMF, SMF, or similar tools).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with technical, application, operations, and business teams.
- 10+ years of experience as a DB2 Systems Programmer
, in a mainframe/z/OS environment. - 7+ years of hands‑on experience with DB2 installation, migration, testing, maintenance, and/or troubleshooting
. - 7+ years of DB2 performance monitoring, tuning, subsystem parameters, and/or workload management.
- 7+ years of experience with DB2 backup, recovery, archiving, storage management, and/or disaster recovery procedures.
- 3+ years of experience supporting CICS-DB2 OLTP environments
. - 3+ years of experience supporting distributed DB2 connectivity and application interfaces.
- Experience with DB2 data sharing, high availability, disaster recovery testing, and Parallel Sysplex
. - Knowledge of automation or scripting using REXX, CLIST, JCL, or scheduling tools
. - Experience working in enterprise production support environments with formal change, incident, and problem management processes.
Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this hybrid role is $106,575-$142,100. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position in the Buffalo, NY area. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.
This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.
