Position: Audit Assistant (Abi's Team)

NXTGEN is excited to be partnering with a reputable firm in Bury St Edmunds, which is experiencing significant growth within its non‑corporate yet highly experienced Audit function. They’re looking to welcome an Audit Assistant to the team, a fantastic opportunity for someone seeking the next step in their audit career. The practice has recently brought in a highly experienced Audit Director, who has already broadened the client base locally and attracted top‑tier talent. With ambitious growth plans underway, they’re now seeking an Audit Assistant ready to contribute to this exciting journey. As an Audit Assistant, you’ll experience a modern approach to audit, including flexible working, a collaborative environment, and a strong social culture.

You’ll work with a diverse range of SMEs across East Anglia, gaining exposure to multiple sectors and developing a well‑rounded skill set, whether your focus is purely audit or a blend of audit and accounts.

Being part of a newly built and expanding Audit function means the Audit Assistant will work alongside some of the best in the market while helping shape the team’s future. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning and executing audits for a diverse client portfolio, ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Work closely with senior team members to deliver high‑quality audit services
  • Prepare financial statements and support clients with technical queries
  • Develop client relationships, providing advice and insights beyond compliance
  • Continue progressing with professional qualifications, with full study support provided
What we’re looking for:
  • Working towards ACA/ACCA with a background in audit
  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Confident communicator, eager to build relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Ambitious, with a drive to progress in a growing firm
