About the Opportunity
A well‑established environmental consulting firm is seeking a Qualified Professional – Environmental Site Assessment (QPESA) Hydrogeologist to support and lead contaminated site investigations across Ontario. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced intermediate to senior hydrogeologist with a strong background in Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), contaminated site remediation, and Ontario environmental regulations.
The successful candidate will be authorized to review, sign, and seal contaminated site reports and will provide technical leadership on projects involving groundwater characterization and mitigation, particularly within downstream oil & gas and retail fuel (gas station) environments.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a QPESA for Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with Ontario regulations
Review, approve, and sign Phase I and Phase II ESA reports
Lead and contribute to contaminated site investigations, including:
Soil and groundwater assessments
Site characterization and delineation
Risk evaluation and mitigation strategies
Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior and intermediate staff
Liaise with regulators, clients, and project stakeholders
Conduct and/or oversee field programs, including groundwater monitoring, sampling, and data interpretation
Support remediation planning and regulatory closure strategies
Ensure compliance with provincial standards and reporting requirements
Qualifications & Experience
QPESA designation (required) with demonstrated authority to sign contaminated site reports
Background as a Physical Hydrogeologist
Typically 8–15+ years of progressive experience in environmental consulting
Strong contaminated sites experience, preferably within:
Downstream oil & gas
Retail fuel / gas station sites
Industrial or commercial properties
Proven experience with Phase I and Phase II ESAs
Solid working knowledge of Ontario environmental regulations related to contaminated sites
Groundwater modeling experience is considered an asset but is not required
P.Geo designation preferred; QPESA status is essential
