Job DescriptionA Skid Steer Operator is responsible for operating a small, engine-powered loader to assist with construction projects. The operator will perform tasks such as digging, moving materials, grading, and cleaning up job sites, often using various attachments. This role also involves maintaining the equipment and adhering to safety regulations.
Responsibilities- Operating the Skid Steer:
Maneuver the machine, use attachments (like buckets, augers, or graders), and perform tasks such as digging, grading, and moving materials. - Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine checks, ensure the skid steer is clean, and report any issues. - Job Site Safety:
Follow safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and maintain a clean and organized work area. - Assisting with Construction Projects:
This may include digging holes, trenches, moving dirt or earth, assisting with laying pavement, or clearing debris. - Other Duties:
May include loading and unloading trucks, stockpiling materials, or assisting with other construction tasks.
- Physical Strength and Stamina:
Operating skid steers can be physically demanding. - Experience in construction, loader operation, heavy equipment operation, skid steer, and blueprint reading.
- General labor experience, including operating excavators, dozers, concrete, backhoes, and heavy equipment operation.
- Attention to Detail:
Careful operation and maintenance are crucial. - Teamwork:
Work effectively with other construction crew members. - Safety Awareness:
Understand and follow safety procedures. - Knowledge of Construction Tasks:
General knowledge of construction site practices. - Basic Equipment Maintenance
Skills:
Knowledge of basic maintenance procedures. - Ability to Follow Instructions:
Understand and follow instructions from supervisors. - Candidates should have their own Construction PPE (hard hat, high visibility vest, steel toe or work boots) as well as tools specific to being a Skid Steer Operator.
The Skid Steer Operator will work on construction sites across various locations throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo County. The majority of work will be outside and labor-intensive. Work hours are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm, with the possibility of working on weekends or starting earlier based on job site requirements.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nipomo, California.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.25 - $43.25/hr.
