Now part of the Summit Water group of companies, APR combines decades of hands‑on mechanical expertise with the strength and stability of a growing organization. We focus on quality workmanship, strong customer relationships, and building a team that takes pride in solving real mechanical problems.
ABOUT THE POSITION
We are looking for a hands‑on, technically strong Operations Manager to lead our shop and field service operations.
This role is responsible for providing direction to the shop floor, coordinating machinists and pump mechanics, reviewing and updating drawings, and ensuring that work is executed efficiently, safely, and profitably. The Operations Manager connects estimating, inspection, and production — turning approved quotes into well‑managed, on‑time repairs.
This position requires strong mechanical knowledge, leadership capability, and the ability to manage workflow, people, and performance metrics simultaneously.
In this role you will:
Provide daily direction and prioritization to shop staff
Coordinate machinists, pump mechanics, and support labour
Review, update, and support creation of repair drawings and reverse‑engineered components
Analyze shop load and capacity to optimize staffing and scheduling
Manage work‑in‑progress and reduce bottlenecks
Evaluate actual labour and material usage against quoted estimates
Identify cost overruns early and take corrective action
Improve labour efficiency and throughput
Work closely with the Estimator and Inspector to ensure smooth job handoffs
Oversee subcontractor usage and quality standards
Address day‑to‑day HR matters including performance management, coaching, attendance, and discipline
Ensure health and safety standards are met, enforced, and continuously improved
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional shop environment
Your leadership directly impacts cycle time, margin performance, employee morale, and customer satisfaction.

Strong background in pump repair, rotating equipment, machining, or industrial mechanical environments
Experience supervising shop personnel in a production or repair setting
Ability to read and review mechanical drawings and tolerances
Experience managing workflow and shop scheduling
Strong understanding of labour efficiency and job costing
Comfortable addressing HR‑related issues professionally and consistently
Working knowledge of health and safety requirements in a mechanical shop environment
Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred:
Experience in reverse engineering and component redesign
Exposure to municipal or industrial pump repair markets
Experience implementing KPIs and operational reporting
Familiarity with estimating processes and margin management
WHY JOIN APR
Lead a skilled mechanical team
Work in a specialized industrial repair environment
Play a direct role in improving operational performance and profitability
Be part of a stable and growing organization with long‑term opportunity
