Harris Space Mission Systems is seeking a Senior Software Engineer. Responsibilities include leading a software development team, analyzing requirements and translating them into working and maintainable solutions, planning the development, assigning budgets and tasks, tracking the team’s status, measuring work performed utilizing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) techniques, and enforcing process across the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The selected candidate will apply technical proficiency across various stages of our SDLC, gather requirements and work closely with stakeholders to prioritize and scope tasks.

The selected candidate will work as a lead team member on a Scrum team and will be instrumental in setting our direction and strategy for product and infrastructure development.

• Experience leading an Agile Software Team / Project, strong technical communication skills
• Project planning, task definition and assignment; performance monitoring
• Object‑oriented design and implementation experience, with exposure to software modeling and UML tools such as Magic Draw/Cameo
• Developing software utilizing modern cloud application development tools and standards
• Support the engineering team members as a subject‑matter expert in application software development, through guidance and direction to one or more software engineers
• Investigate root cause of complex issues, and implement solutions, working independently or with a multi‑discipline team
• Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in the development of software for the target hardware
• Work closely with cross‑functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system
• Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, hardware‑software integration, and formal test
• Develop software test plans and procedures, and other relevant technical documentation
• Utilize modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, prototype, and evaluate results
• Participate in peer reviews, identify, track and repair defects

• U.S. citizenship eligible for a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or related field
• 5+ years of experience debugging application and cloud‑based applications
• Usage of Platform as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service technologies, such as VMWare, Open Shift, or similar

• Experience with Agile Scrum Practices
• Experienced Rust developer is highly desired
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience developing device drivers and software for integrated communication systems
• Experience with commercial telephony software packages, such as Asterisk
• Experience implementing Risk Management Framework (RMF) security control across application software
