St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Schools invites applications for a full-time probationary Family School Liaison Worker position ustine in Ponoka, Alberta . This position will begin August 31, 2026 .
St. Augustine School is seeking a Family School Liaison Worker (FSLW) to support the social, emotional, spiritual, and mental well-being of students through strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners. Working collaboratively with the school team, the FSLW helps connect families with appropriate supports and services, provides short-term student support, delivers programming related to mental health, social skills, and healthy interpersonal relationships, and may coordinate student mentorship programs.
As a Catholic school, St. Augustine seeks a candidate who is committed to supporting the faith life of the school and fostering a learning environment rooted in Gospel values. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and experience in counseling, social work, child and youth care, education, or a related field.
The successful candidate should possess a social work degree or education experience in a similar field. Skills and qualities of a strong candidate will also include:
The ability to provide consultation and collaboration as a member of the school intervention team; consultation on such issues as attendance, confidentiality, mental health, behavior management and crisis intervention; the ability to provide support in order to ensure school staff are knowledgeable on a variety of topics (e.g. mental health, taruma, grief and loss, self-regulation, etc.); assist the school through program planning and implementation of various programs;
a working knowledge of the Catholic faith or openness to work in a Catholic environment.
The Successful candidate’s offer of employment will be conditional upon receipt of a recent (within 6 months) Criminal Record check inclusive of vulnerable sector and a recent (within 6 months) Alberta Children's Intervention Record Check.
