David Hoy Elementary School Inclusive Teacher

Location: Omineca and Yellowhead (Smithers)

Become an Inclusive Education Teacher at David Hoy Elementary School to promote equitable learning experiences for students in Fort St. James, BC. This position focuses on developing IEPs and employing trauma-informed and inclusive instructional methods.

Starting September 1, 2026, this .60 continuing specialist role requires a Bachelor of Education and relevant qualifications in Special Education. Ideal candidates will demonstrate their ability to support diverse learners and implement effective behaviour strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)

• Utilize diverse instructional strategies and inclusive practices

• Collaborate with parents and community stakeholders

• Support the goals of the BC Education Plan

• Integrate Indigenous culture into curriculum

Requirements:

• BC teaching certificate mandated

• Experience in case management for students with intensive behaviors

• Training in functional behaviour assessment

• Knowledge of the Response to Intervention model

• Experience using competency-based assessments
