Duties and responsibilities

Collect and analyze data related to underground geological control: mapping, sampling, and reconciling grades;

Monitor mineralized advances and issue guidelines to engineering and operations;

Monitor the management and transit of material of interest underground;

Describe the definition drill core using appropriate software (lithological description, sampling);

Use existing protocols to ensure data quality and integrity (QA/QC);

Produce survey summaries;

Participate in the interpretation of collected geoscientific data;

Participate in health, safety, and environmental inspection visits to underground drilling sites;

Participate in daily and weekly meetings;

Prepare weekly and biweekly reports for management on the progress of work and results obtained;

Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with operational guidelines (E3, partner guidelines) and government regulations (mining, forestry, environment, C.S.S.T., municipalities, and M.R.C.);

Comply at all times with occupational health and safety and environmental policies and rules;

Perform any other tasks related to the position of geologist/geological engineer that are relevant to the success of the project.

Required qualifications

Hold a university degree in geology or geological engineering;

Be a member of the Ordre des géologues du Québec (OGQ) as a geologist-in-training/geologist or the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) as a CPI/engineer, or be eligible to register;

Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license;

Hold mining modules 1-2-3-4-5 and 7, or be in the process of obtaining them.

Basic skills

Hold a bachelor's degree in geology or engineering;

Be a member of a professional order (OGQ or OIQ) or be eligible to register;

Be an excellent team player, demonstrate tact and political savvy;

Previous experience in the gold mining industry is a major asset;

Proactive attitude;

Be adaptable and open to change and constructive feedback;

Have good organizational skills and the ability to recognize priorities;

Be self-reliant, show initiative, and be able to handle multiple files simultaneously;

Be thorough and demonstrate ethics and integrity.

Technical skills

Be fluent in spoken and written English (an asset);

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook) and specialized software such as Datamine and Leapfrog;

Good knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to exploration and mining sites.
