Location: East Kootenays (Fernie)
Elk Valley Resources (EVR) operates four steelmaking coal mines that employ over 5,000 people in the Elk Valley of British Columbia. In this role, you will
Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
Update and manage environmental data and reporting in our Environmental Data Management System (EMS)
Assist with on-site research and development activities as well as monitoring, sampling, inspecting, and reporting for environmental reclamation and geotechnical compliance
Manage water movement tracking, water management, and water treatment
Perform project management tasks, including safety and contractor supervision, and project planning
Involve in wildlife monitoring projects and Biodiversity Management Plan updates
Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business
Requirements
Working towards an Undergraduate degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Forestry or Hydrology
A valid Class 5 Driver's License or extra-provincial equivalent, without learner's restrictions
Ability to operate vehicles at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain
Motivated self-starter with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
Comfortable working in a dynamic work environment with a willingness to work outdoors
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels and partners
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Salary
Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co‑op experiences completed.
