MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in the area of Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Knowledgeable of local community and resources. Experience working with pre-school children, including those with special needs. Aware of the cultural and linguistic diversity of the children and families in the community. Knowledgeable of basic computer skills and predominant software (work processing, spreadsheets, email, Internet). Supervisory/management experience. Experienced driver with valid license who has access to a car that can be used on the job.
Must secure an acceptable criminal records check and satisfactorily complete a drug screening.
GOAL
Ensures that all aspects of education and early childhood development services, and the program as a whole, meet or exceed the requirements set forth in funding agency(s) regulations, other requirements set forth by the governing agency and follows guidelines set forth in the Personnel Policies, Procedures Manual, state and local fire, health, safety and day care regulations. Coaches and provides technical assistance to all classroom staff.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works cooperatively with Center Director and other staff members in planning and implementing the objectives of the program.
- Assists in hiring all classroom staff.
- Assists in evaluating the job performance of all classroom staff.
- Assists staff in designing and providing a physical environment conducive to learning.
- Encourages and assists staff in obtaining AS/BS degree.
- Provides training/technical assistance/coaching to classroom staff and assists in the development/implementation of parent training.
- Monitors/reviews and analyzes appropriate classroom data in order to enhance child outcomes.
- Ensures the accuracy and timely completion of all education documentation.
- Serves as a model/coach for children, parents, staff, and community persons and conducts self professionally at all times.
- Supports parent-child relationship and supports parents' role as the first and lifelong educators or their children.
- Conducts monthly communities of practice sessions for education staff.
- Networks with other child care professionals to share ideas, information and experiences relating to school readiness.
- Observes teaching staff using a variety of observation tools and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Reviews daily schedules to ensure achievement of a balance of activities in the classroom.
- Reviews weekly lesson plans to ensure inclusion of all components.
- Assists in the smooth transition of children and families into their next educational setting.
- Ensures classroom environment is safe, clean, well organized, attractive and inviting to children.
- Ensures the safety, cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
- Ensures developmentally appropriate materials are purchased for the classrooms.
- Plans cooperatively with classroom staff to meet the individual needs of the children.
- Assists in coordination and implementation of services to children with special needs.
- Assists in the development and distribution of the newsletter.
- Assists in the recruitment of enrollees for the program.
- Assists in the recruitment, training and utilization of volunteers.
- Serves as advocate and spokesperson for children and families.
- Attends all staff, parent, education, committee meetings, etc., as required by supervisor.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Assists in insuring the integration of all service delivery areas.
- Assists in the evaluation of the education and early childhood developmental service delivery system.
- Participates in all pre-service/in-service training, securing a minimum of 15 hours of approved training/year and maintains up-to-date list of all training received.
- Follows work scheduling, attendance and reporting requirements relating to tardiness/absences.
- Secures and maintains CLASS observer reliability.
- Secures and maintains Georgia approved trainer status.
