Position Summary

The Mental Health Support Clinician provides school‑based mental health services within a Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This role delivers short‑term counseling, group interventions, crisis response, and consultation with school teams to promote students’ social‑emotional well‑being and academic success. The contractor collaborates with families, educators, and community agencies while maintaining compliance with district policies and state regulations. The clinician provides resource linkages/referrals to community agencies as needed for additional support.

This is a grant‑funded position and temporary in nature. No travel is required. The primary population served is grades 6‑12.

Essential Duties

MTSS & Intervention Support:

  • Collaborate with school teams and external partners to design and implement Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 mental health supports.
  • Review assessment data to identify students who may need additional services and assist in developing individualized support plans.
  • Participate in MTSS and intervention team meetings, providing expertise in social‑emotional learning and behavior.

Direct Student Services:

  • Provide one‑on‑one counseling to address social‑emotional needs, mental health concerns, and personal challenges.
  • Assist students in skill development such as coping strategies, emotional regulation, problem‑solving abilities, and self‑advocacy.
  • Facilitate small‑group sessions on topics such as conflict resolution, stress management, social skills, and grief processing.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive environment that supports student growth and peer engagement.

Crisis Response:

  • Respond promptly to mental health crises and implement safety plans.
  • Serve as a member of the Crisis Response Team.

Collaboration & Family Support:

  • Collaborate with school staff, parents/guardians, and community partners to support students’ social, emotional, and academic well‑being.
  • Act as a liaison between the school and community resources, connecting students and families with resources/services.

Staff Training & Consultation:

  • Provide staff training on mental health awareness, trauma‑informed practices, and strategies to support student behavior and well‑being.
  • Provide consultation services with staff to support students.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain confidential, accurate, and timely records of services, interventions, and communications.
  • Ensure all practices align with district policies, professional standards, and state regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
