The Topic andLocation:
Building a more strategic approach to co‑production – Cartrefi Cymru Co‑operative, Wales
Hybrid working between home and the host organisation offices in Swansea/Cardiff.
This post will require travel across locations in South Wales.
Cartrefi Cymru Co‑operative is a large multi‑stakeholder co‑operative operating across Wales, delivering supported living and domiciliary care services to adults with learning disabilities. The organisation values the voice and choices of the people it supports, embedding co‑production throughout its work. Instead of traditional day services, it delivers activities driven by local co‑operatives’ voices. The IMPACT project will identify a methodology for this approach, aiming to achieve a consistent offer across Wales and support Cartrefi to promote its approach and vision with all stakeholders.

- Provide strategic improvement coaching to host organisations, ensuring evidence of what works informs practice.
- Attend fortnightly IMPACT team meetings and contribute to project progress.
- Travel across South Wales to engage with host organisations and stakeholders.
- Work within a hybrid model, balancing home and office‑based activities.
- Experience in adult social care, supporting people with learning disabilities, or working with co‑operative models.
- Experience in strategic improvement or change management.
- Strong knowledge of co‑production principles and evidence‑based practice.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS clearance prior to appointment.
As part of IMPACT’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion we are particularly keen to receive applications from people from black and minority ethnic communities and will be operating the ‘Rooney’ rule. We also encourage applications from people with lived experience of care, carers, front‑line practitioners, and those who have experience working with groups whose voices are seldom heard. We value diversity and inclusion at the University of Birmingham and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
