Job Summary

Job Title: Long-Term Spanish Substitute Teacher

Location: Glenbard North, Carol Stream, IL

Position Type: Temporary Licensed Staff

Salary & Benefits: LTS rate $300 per 7.25 hour day, includes grading, Plan/Prep/GH/Collab; employer TRS contribution benefits may apply.

Term: 08/10/2026 – 11/04/2026 (anticipated)

License

Required:

Professional Educator License (registered in DuPage County) and endorsement for H.S. in the identified subject.

Responsibilities

The qualified candidate will perform duties and responsibilities to ensure that learning continues during a teacher's extended absence.

  • 5 classes + Prep + Resource
  • 3 classes Spanish 2, 2 classes AP Spanish Language and Culture
Qualifications
  • Professional educator's license in the subject area identified.
  • Knowledge of best practices for supporting all students' ability to learn.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Honors or AP experience preferred.
  • English Endorsed 9‑12, preferred experience teaching AP Language and Composition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Instruct students based on subject‑ or level‑specific curriculum; grade assignments and maintain attendance.
  • Supplement lesson plans utilizing interactive technology as appropriate.
  • Supervise and ensure safety of students during classroom hours.
  • Meet with the Department Chair regularly and seek mentoring from other departmental staff members.
  • Maintain the highest level of ethical and professional demeanor with students and staff consistent with district policies.
  • May need to participate in parent‑teacher conferences and/or school‑sponsored professional development.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
  • Maintain student confidentiality.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as correspondence, surveys and electronic media.
  • Ability to write professional communications.
  • Ability to present information effectively and to respond to questions from individuals and groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community members.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form.
  • Basic mathematical knowledge.
  • Problem‑solving skills in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to maintain current job skills, especially in technology‑related activities.
  • Awareness of school district requirements and School Board policies.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to sit, talk, stand, walk, operate duplicating machines and computer equipment, reach with hands and arms, and perform repetitive motions such as typing.
  • Requires close vision and ability to adjust focus; ability to withstand long‑term use of video display terminals (VDT) is required.
  • May occasionally lift up to 30 pounds (e.g., reference books).
  • Noise level usually moderate and pace of work tasks fast.
  • Work primarily at one job site, with occasional meetings, conferences, or workshops at other sites as assigned.
