Reporting to the Crew Lead and the Project Manager the Solar PV Installer is accountable for all branch solar installations. Solar PV Installers assemble, install, or maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics. Primary responsibilities to perform project installations include mechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules and electrical equipment and assembly of mounting hardware. May include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules. May perform minor electrical work such as current checks.  Work is performed on residential and commercial roof tops as well as installing ground mounted systems.  Additional attic work in homes and businesses to verify structural attachment.

 Examine designs to determine current requirements for all parts of the photovoltaic (PV) system electrical circuit
 Identify and resolve any deficiencies in photovoltaic (PV) system installation or materials
 Identify electrical, environmental, and safety hazards associated with photovoltaic (PV) installations
 Identify installation locations with proper orientation, area, solar access, or structural integrity for photovoltaic (PV) arrays
 Identify methods for laying out, orienting, and mounting modules or arrays to ensure efficient installation, electrical configuration, or system maintenance
 Install module array interconnect wiring, implementing measures to disable arrays during installation
 Install required labels on solar system components and hardware
 Measure and analyze system performance and operating parameters to assess operating condition of systems or equipment
 Program, adjust, or configure inverters and controls for desired set points and operating modes
 Select mechanical designs, installation equipment, or installation plans that conform to environmental, architectural, structural, site, and code requirements
 Assemble solar array racking, properly seal all roof penetrations and install all relative equipment
 Test operating voltages to ensure operation within acceptable limits for power conditioning equipment, such as inverters and controllers
 Visually inspect and test photovoltaic (PV) modules or systems
 Compile or maintain records of system operation, performance, and maintenance
 Demonstrate system functionality and performance, including start-up, shut-down, normal operation, and emergency or bypass operations
 Determine materials, equipment, and installation sequences necessary to maximize installation efficiency
 Perform PV system service as required
 Ensure job site is clean and presentable prior to leaving
 Ability to perform physical demands of the project
 Attend all mandatory training sessions - new products, methodology and safety
 Complete all training modules within timeframe as assigned
 Additional duties in the warehouse or service work may be required
 Must follow all OSHA safety standards and wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times
 Obtain OSHA 10 certification within 30 days of start date
 Acquire DOT certification at age 21
 Other duties as assigned

 High School diploma, 2-year degree in technology/industrial arts preferred
 1-2 years of construction background is preferred
 Must have valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
 Must successfully pass drug and criminal background check
 Experience in mechanical installations, general construction and ladder work
 Experience with all types of hand-held and power tools
 Basic understanding/experience with electrical wiring of AC and DC systems is preferred
 Experience working with all types of building materials, various roof types preferred
 Visual thinker good at problem solving and implementing ideas
 Desire to learn and master all aspects of installing solar PV system
 Always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, while traveling and/or representing the company
     *  Must be currently eligible for DOT certification

Some States require applicants to be enrolled in the Electrical Apprentice Program to work as an Installer. Power Home Solar will help with getting you enrolled to the program.
