Iron County School District in Cedar City, UT is seeking a Full Time Level II Special Education Elementary Educator for the school year. The district supports students and families in developing college and career readiness through district and school-wide support.
Iron Springs Elementary School is seeking a Full Time Level II Special Education Elementary Educator beginning in August for the school year.
The Full Time Special Education Elementary Educator provides students with learning, cognitive or physical disabilities with individually tailored help, counsel, and learning experiences to make progress toward educational goals, monitors outcomes, and assists in development of Individual Education Programs (IEP).
- Determines specific learning problems, skill deficiencies, or social adjustment difficulties of students and initiates remediation programs.
- Evaluates each student in terms of initial needs and progress toward remediation.
- Develops and presents appropriate IEP goals.
- Prepares progress reports and year-end evaluations, administering pre-tests and post-tests as appropriate.
- Provides materials and equipment for instruction, including reading materials at multiple levels, instructional games, and resource materials.
- Counsels students in identifying and addressing academic and social challenges.
- Provides opportunities for students to explore life and career goals.
- Provides tutoring for other classes as needed.
- Establishes and maintains standards of individual student behavior. Collaborates with other teachers to support satisfactory class work, homework, and behavior.
- Helps parents understand challenges of educationally handicapped students and goals and operation of the program, informing them of challenges and progress.
- Participates in selection and evaluation of students for admission to the program.
- Participates in case conferences about students who learn differently.
- Performs basic attendance accounting and related record-keeping functions for the program.
- Keeps abreast of new developments by reading journals, attending professional meetings, and collaborating with colleagues.
- Evaluates special education needs to ensure objectives are met.
- Understands and interprets laws, rules, and regulations to students, parents, and paraprofessionals.
- Prepares reports for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
- Administers achievement tests to measure student performance.
- Writes and maintains IEP files and monitors compliance.
- Assists students with daily living skills (e.g., toileting and social interaction).
- Works with students and their behavior needs.
- Maintains regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance.
