About The Team

The HR team sits within our Corporate Services Directorate and is responsible for all HR matters within the City of London Police. This role sits within the HR Services Team and will have a focus on Recruitment as well as other HR operational activity.

The Role

We are recruiting for a Recruitment HR Officer to join our brilliant Recruitment Team.

You will be providing high quality, effective and timely recruitment services for both candidates and hiring teams. This includes liaising with candidates and supporting them through the recruitment process, ensuring each candidate receives a first‑class candidate experience.

As HR Officer you will also provide support and advice to staff and managers on a wide range of policies and procedures. Candidates must have excellent customer service skills and be able to work across a variety of databases with a keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Hiring Managers with the recruitment and selection process for Police Officers and Police Staff by advertising roles, communicating with potential candidates, undertaking shortlisting and attending interviews if required.
  • To ensure that recruitment strategies and campaigns are devised, tailored and implemented effectively and efficiently according to an agreed timetable.
  • To ensure that the onboarding process of the new Police Officer and Staff runs smoothly.
  • To maintain the HR records systems (manual and computerised) ensuring all records are accurate and up to date, producing reports and management information from the HR database as required.
  • To advise Line Managers on terms and conditions and police regulations, as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Proven administrative experience in HR/Recruitment.
  • Proficient IT skills of Microsoft suite: MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience in interpreting and applying HR policies and procedures.
  • Experience in having worked with HR systems (Oracle and SAP would be advantageous)
  • Experience in customer support to clearly explain policies and procedures to staff at all levels, consistently maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
  • Experience in effectively prioritising a changing workload and meeting and negotiating deadlines.
  • Effective written communication skills to prepare letters and e‑mails to all levels of staff and external agencies.
