Purpose of the position:The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for end-to-end project procurement execution within EPC environments, ensuring commercial, contractual, cost and schedule alignment across engineering and construction phases. The role safeguards project margins by controlling sourcing strategy, supplier performance, contract compliance, and procurement governance in line with approved budgets, delegation of authority, and client requirements.
- Focus:
Supervisory and Operational Procurement support - To ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and standards
- NQF Level 6 qualification (BCom Supply Chain / Procurement / Commercial or equivalent)
- CIPS Diploma (completed or in progress) advantageous - 5–8 years’ procurement experience within EPC, engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated experience administering medium to large EPC projects
- Proven supervisory or senior-level procurement responsibility
- 4
-7 years in a procurement role, with supervisory experience - Strong understanding of procurement policies and procedures
- Extensive experience in administration of EPC Projects
- Execute procurement activities in line with approved policies, procedures, and delegation of authority
- Source goods and services through RFQs, tenders, and quotations
- Evaluate supplier submissions and prepare procurement recommendations
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and commercial conditions
- Ensure timely delivery of goods and services to support operations
- Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply-related issues
- Ability to handle complex situations with minimal supervision
- Ensure accurate procurement documentation and audit readiness
- Compile procurement reports and support management reporting requirements
- Procurement Execution & Operations
- Develop and implement project-specific procurement plans aligned to project schedules
- Manage RFQs, RFPs and tender processes and evaluations for engineered equipment, bulk materials, subcontractors and services
- Supervises procurement activities and ensures compliance with company policies
- Manages the preparation and review of key procurement documents and purchase orders
- Ensures timely delivery of goods and services
- Drives supplier engagement and expediting to meet deadlines
- Commercial & Contractual Management:
- Lead commercial evaluations including total cost analysis and risk profiling
- Negotiate pricing, Incoterms, Limited Damages, warranties and milestone payment structures
- Manage variation orders and commercial change control
- Oversees cost analysis processes to Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities
- Supplier & Subcontractor Management
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships
- Leads supplier/vendor performance evaluations
- Maintain approved vendor lists aligned to EPC commodities.
- Drive expediting for critical-path items.
- Resolve supplier performance issues.
- Resolves escalated supplier/vendor issues and ensures alignment with contractual terms.
- Cost Control & Budget Alignment
- Ensure procurement remains within approved project budgets
- Track commitments vs. budget in alignment with cost control
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising schedule or quality

- Ensures adherence to procurement policies and legal standards
- Supports internal and external procurement audits
- Maintains accurate records and documentation for auditing purposes
