Job Description

The Director of Talent Acquisition / Sales Recruiter will own Vertekal's recruiting function end-to-end. This is a high-impact, self-directed role for someone who combines sales instincts, pipeline discipline, and deep recruiting experience, particularly in the cleared and federal contracting ecosystem. You will be responsible for identifying talent before we need it, building relationships, and positioning Vertekal as the employer of choice for engineers, PMs, analysts, and mission-aligned technical talent.

Success in this role directly fuels company growth, and will be recognized and rewarded accordingly.

Own the Recruiting Engine: Build and manage Vertekal's talent pipeline across cleared and uncleared roles, focusing heavily on TS/SCI and above. Develop and maintain warm networks of high-value candidates long before a contract drops.

Source Like a Hunter: Proactively identify talent through Linked In, Clearance Jobs, referrals, partner networks, and targeted outreach. Build relationships with candidates in high-value clusters (Nat Sec primes, mission-focused companies, boutique engineering firms). Execute outbound outreach quotas weekly—measured, consistent, and tracked.

Act Like a Strategic Sales Partner: Understand Vertekal's business opportunities, customer pipelines, and contract vehicles. Recruit ahead of awards: build contingent pools, identify PMs, and position Vertekal for rapid staffing upon award. Maintain ongoing engagement with top candidates ("pipeline warming").

Build a Repeatable Talent System: Create KPIs, dashboards, and recruiting metrics that support rapid, transparent decision-making. Track referrals, sourcing activity, and partner conversations as part of Vertekal's business development rhythm.

Represent Vertekal Everywhere: Engage with potential partners, talent clusters, and networks—always seeding the conversation for future opportunities. Support referral campaigns and internal outreach to keep recruiting front-of-mind for the team.

A sales-minded operator who understands business development cycles and recruiting ahead of contract awards

A builder excited to create new systems, processes, and pipelines from the ground up

Naturally curious and persistent—you follow threads, dig for talent, and never rely solely on job postings

Responsibilities

Own Vertekal's end-to-end recruiting function across cleared and uncleared technical roles

Align recruiting efforts with business development cycles and contract award timelines

Engage with partners, talent clusters, and networks to position Vertekal as an employer of choice
