Job Overview
Seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week travel assignment in a 12-suite acute care surgical department performing approximately 30 cases per day.
This role requires strong perioperative experience with the ability to both scrub and circulate, including orthopedic procedures. Call is required.
Responsibilities- Provide perioperative nursing care including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases
- Function in both circulating and scrub roles
- First scrub and circulate orthopedic procedures (required)
- Assist with general surgery, orthopedic, GYN, urology, ophthalmology, vascular, and plastic surgery cases
- Maintain sterile field and adhere to surgical safety protocols
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical techs
- Float to Endoscopy if not needed in Surgery
- Document in EPIC
- Active RN license
- BLS
- Strong OR experience with scrubbing required
- Must be able to first scrub orthopedic cases
- Must reside outside 50-mile radius (no locals)
- Driver’s license address must reflect 50+ mile radius
- Previous WVU employment must be disclosed (2-year break required from perm)
- Shift: 8 or 10-hour day shifts based on unit need
- Start time: 6:15 AM or 6:45 AM depending on case start
- May be assigned “late days” to stay until cases are finished
- 40 hours guaranteed weekly
- Call required (rotating)
- 8-hour call shifts
- 30-minute response time
- Evening, night, weekend, and holiday call required
- No self-scheduling (staff collaborate on call scheduling)
- Scrubs provided (surgery vending machine)
- 2–4 shifts unit orientation
- May float between affiliated surgical facilities as needed
Must be able to scrub and circulate, including first scrub orthopedic procedures. 50-mile radius rule applies (no locals). Call required with 30-minute response time. Artificial nails not permitted in clinical areas.
