Under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Clinical Research Coordinator I is involved all phases of human neuroimaging research. Specifically, the position involves the collection, management and analysis of multiple modes of imaging and requires the processing of functional, structural MRI in conjunction with clinical and neuropsychological assessments and working with different multiple sclerosis patient populations. The central research program seeks to study brain pathology in subjects with Multiple Sclerosis, and to identify, in vivo, novel bio-imaging markers for monitoring Multiple Sclerosis disease course and response to treatments. To investigate this, our laboratory utilizes a multimodal imaging approach that combines MR-PET imaging with ultra-high-field MRI at 7 Tesla and on the novel Connectome scanner, together with an extensive clinical and cognitive assessment of patients.


  • Recruit and screen patients suffering from multiple sclerosis.
  • Acts as study resource for patients.
  • Administering neuropshycological tests.
  • Coordinate with nursing staff at the Martinos Center to set up patients and controls in the PET scanning environment, and will need to complete proper radiation safety training.
  • Help to operate the combined MRI-PET, the 7T and the Connectome Scanners at the Martinos Center.
  • Maintains research data, patient files, regulatory binders and study databases.
  • Performs data analysis and QA/QC data checks.
  • Prepare interim reports for granting agencies (e.g. NIH) and assist on manuscripts of completed projects for publication in technical journals, presentations at professional field meetings/conferences, and for use in further applied or theoretical research activities.
  • Assist PI to prepare and complete study reports.
  • Processing and analysis of brain imaging data collected from the studies noted above.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of an integrated research team.
  • The ability to prioritize multiple tasks and handle fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.


  • Research subject coordination
  • Administrative support of IRB procedures and communication
  • Op erational knowledge regarding PET and MRI data analysis software such as FSL, FreeSurfer, and PMOD is a plus.
  • Working familiarity with RED Cap database software is a plus.



  • Bachelor's degree required.


  • New graduates with some relevant course/project work or those without any prior research experience will be considered for the Clinical Research Coordinator I position outlined above.
