Job Overview
Peraton is looking for an IT Support Technician to support a contract onsite in Charlottesville, Virginia. This role is ideal for a “jack-of-all-trades” IT professional who will support multiple systems, networks, and technologies. This role will provide advanced end-user support beyond basic help desk functions while assisting with network and systems administration, device management, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
Required Qualifications- Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related technical field and five (5) years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree and three (3) years of relevant experience; OR PhD and zero (0) years of relevant experience; OR High School Diploma/GED and nine (9) years of directly related experience may be substituted in lieu of higher education.
- DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in dynamic operational environments.
- Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Cisco CCNA and/or CompTIA Network+ certifications.
- Microsoft Certified:
Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate. - Experience handling COMSEC material and devices.
- Experience installing, terminating, labeling, and testing structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools such as Solar Winds.
- Experience using ticketing and workflow management systems such as Jira.
- Providing technical support for user networks, systems, and peripheral devices.
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Performing routine maintenance activities, including powering on devices, inspecting and connecting cabling, verifying system status, and validating security configurations.
- Conducting patch management and firmware upgrades, providing break/fix support, and supporting daily operations and maintenance activities, including onsite support for special events.
- Providing remote and onsite preventative maintenance support, which may require overnight travel.
- Acting as an incident manager by coordinating issues with the Network Operations Center (NOC), providing status updates for ongoing incidents, and documenting event closure within the ticketing system.
- Coordinating and advising technical teams during maintenance outages, authorized service interruptions, lifecycle replacements, and system upgrades.
- Supporting installation, configuration, and sustainment of network and end-user infrastructure across multiple environments.
