This posting is for the Director of Teaching and Learning for the Chehalis School District. This is a Certificated, Exempt, Non-Represented position. The position is 227 days per year, including holidays. This position will NOT work the month of July, Winter Break or Spring Break. This position is open until filled. Position Summary

The Director of Teaching and Learning leads the day-to-day operations of the district’s instructional systems, ensuring high-quality, aligned, and consistent teaching and learning practices across all schools. This role translates district strategy into operational excellence in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning.

Essential Job Functions
  • Facilitate curriculum development, adoption, implementation, and alignment across content areas
  • Coordinate district wide instructional improvement initiatives
  • Design, implement, and track professional development systems
  • Coordinate building instructional leadership teams
  • Oversee assessment systems and serve as the district assessment coordinator
  • Support teachers and administrators with effective data use
  • Support academic MTSS systems and partner with Student Support to align intervention systems
  • Organize district committees as assigned
  • Monitor programs and professional development around student success and belonging
  • Serve as an instructional resource to principals and teacher leaders
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure integrated instructional systems
  • Responsible for instructional grant applications and management through OSPI’s EGMS system
  • Work collaboratively with staff to support grants and categorical programs including LAP, Title programs, and Multilingual Learner services
  • Coordinate with staff for the planning and implementation of summer programs
Successful Experience Preferred
  • As a program administrator, an instructional coach, or curriculum leader at elementary or secondary grade levels
  • Developing early warning systems and working with data systems
  • Managing complex budgets and coordinating grant-funded educational projects
  • Assisting with professional development programs
  • Facilitating positive communication among staff from different buildings
  • Experience with educational technology integration and innovative instructional practices
Job Requirements - Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field required
  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate
  • Minimum of seven years prior successful educational experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, instructional leadership, and educational program management
  • Fingerprint/Background clearance
  • Familiarity with Washington state's educational mandates, school improvement efforts, and comprehensive assessment systems
