Compensation: $17.86–$17.86 per hour;
Substitute hours are paid the month following when the work is completed

Other Compensation:
Cost for background check covered by the district

Salary Enhancement for degrees: AA $0.50/hour, BA $1.00/hour, MA $1.50/hour, PhD $2.00/hour (highest stipend applied, not stacked)

Benefits:
Upon reaching 630 hours worked, substitutes become eligible for and are offered medical, dental, vision, and basic life and AD&D insurance through SEBB

• Supervise student behavior on the bus to ensure safe travel for all students and passengers.
• Assist students with mobility restrictions on and off the bus.
• Assist in loading and unloading of wheelchair‑bound students.
• Assist in properly securing wheelchairs.
• Help students buckle up in car seats and make sure they stay buckled.
• Ensure that students are wearing seatbelts and keep them buckled for the remainder of the route.
• Attend, when necessary, to the needs of individual students.
• Demonstrate a positive, caring and supportive attitude to students at all times; where appropriate, engage students in conversation.
• Work together with the driver on issues such as safety and comfort on the bus and work with the driver to ensure students are transported safely and in comfort.
• Maintain a neat and clean appearance when traveling on the school bus.
• Cooperate with drivers in filling out reports.
• Assist with management of children with special health problems, e.g. seizures.
• Work cooperatively with parents and school staff.

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance.
• Current first aid/CPR card (training may be provided by District).
• Prior successful instructional experience and/or training working with disabled children (preferred).
• Ability to maintain good rapport with students, parents, and co‑workers.
• Adequate health and physical strength to assist students by repetitive lifting; ability to lift 50 pounds and exit the bus through rear exit door.
• First aid certification.
• Willingness to learn and apply behavior management techniques.
• Ability to promote students’ best interests through positive role modeling and advocacy.
• Willingness to be trained to support children with special health problems as needed.
• Ability to work in a team setting.

Testing may be used to determine knowledge of pertinent skills.
