We are seeking a Master Mariner with recent or current bulk carrier or tanker experience, for this exciting opportunity to travel worldwide to investigate problems involving a wide variety of incidents.


The successful applicant will conduct fascinating and challenging work which frequently results in giving evidence as expert witness in arbitration and court hearings.

Master Mariner - The Role


• Conduct investigations, surveys and provide technical advice to assist in the resolution of problems according to Client needs


• Produce reports to a high standard


• Provide expert evidence in court and arbitrations


• To be fully conversant with company software as appropriate to the role


• To be aware of and comply with Human Resource Policies and Procedures, Health and Safety Policy and Procedures and Company's Quality Operating Procedures


• To be pro-active in determining and meeting own training and development needs as agreed during periodic review


• Able to work independently and as part of a team


• Training will be given as, and where, appropriate


Master Mariner - The Candidate


• You must hold a Master Mariner (Foreign Going) Class 1 certification


• Bulk carrier or tanker experience essential


• Candidates with very recent or current service as Master on either Bulk Carriers or Tankers will be considered very seriously


• Excellent communications skills and ability to liaise with international Clients


• Written and spoken English must be to the level of a native speaker


• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills


• Physically able to work in confined spaces, hazardous atmospheres, extreme temperatures and all weather conditions


• Must be IT literate in MS office


• Full UK Driving License with access to own vehicle which should be available for use on the Company's business


• A proportion of your time will be office based. You must, however, be prepared to travel frequently at immediate notice and often at unsociable hours to visit vessels and facilities all over the world in order to ascertain the nature, cause and extent of problems and to gather evidence


• You will be expected to take control of investigations and you must be prepared to remain on site for an extended period of time, depending upon the case requirements. Investigations on scene can occasionally progress over a period of weeks


• To undertake any other duties reasonably requested
