Job Description

The Senior Director, Global Business Insights will be a key member of the McDonald's Global Business Insights team and a vital advisor to the broader Global Chief Marketing Officer. McDonald's is experiencing significant and sustained global growth and sees ample potential in the market. This role has been formulated to help drive decisions and actions that will result in market leading performance in customer visits, sales and market share. The successful candidate will balance an ability to upgrade technical skills with an ability to change the culture.Beyond the significant mandates on which this individual will be tasked, this position is also seen as a platform from which to continue progressing into more senior roles - including potentially succeeding the overall Global Vice President, Consumer and Business Insights over time.Key Technical ResponsibilitiesLead performance analysis, reporting and scenario planning for the global business, with particular focus on the top 6 markets.Significantly upskilling the analytics capability of the Global Business Insights team and sharing standard methodologies across market teams by introducing best-in-class analytical methodologies and tools, and by providing clarity on the best methods for answering recurring business questions. Examples include: incrementality calculations, test and learn approaches, customer analytics to drive deeper insights into how they use our brand and products on different occasions.Lead the Business Insights Council, consisting of business insights leads from top 6 markets, segment leads and largest markets within the high growth and foundational segments. The purpose of the council is to introduce standard methodology techniques, processes and tools for analysis and reporting and collaborate with market colleagues to drive adoption and consistency. This will include identifying the right KPIs to measure and the most effective reporting dashboards, joining up internal analysis with quantitative research data sets to drive greater commercial relevance and implementation. The council will drive toward automation at both the global and market level in order to focus resources on translating implications of data and insights to the business.Lead the joining up of consumer and business insights with competitor and market context insights across the broader global insights team - including customer feedback and social media insights.Develop a scenario planning tool and technique based on a much deeper understanding of drivers of performance and how they can be accurately projected into the future, combined with projecting the impact of broader PESTEL (political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal) implications to McDonald's and our industry.Lead budget setting and management for the broader insights function

Qualifications

Key Leadership & Change Management ResponsibilitiesDevelop talent and lead BI team as a robust unit within Global Insights.Become a major catalyst of corporate wide culture change toward customer obsession.Enhance the intellectual curiosity of the Insights team and of colleagues around the business in order to hone the strategic muscle throughout the organization.Drive thought leadership within insights and across the organization as related to our customers and how to better meet their needs.Collaborate with Global Brand and Corporate Strategy teams (CRM/media, brand strategy, menu strategy, family strategy, corporate strategy, social media insights and consumer insights) to identify the biggest growth opportunities for McDonald's.RequirementsDegree in field like Math, Engineering, Statistics, Finance (with focus on analysis), etc; Masters preferred but not requiredPrevious corporate or consulting experience in managing complex analytical projects in large cross-functional organizations such as retail, restaurant or food service, CPG, financial services, etcHands-on experience with analytical techniques like regression (multi-variate, logistic, etc), customer modeling (segmentation, CLV, propensity modeling), forecasting (demand, sales, baselining, etc)Strong understanding of data warehousing principles and big data architecture; prior experience in partnering with IT to drive large data management initiativesProficiency in SQL, Excel, and Data Visualization required; other statistical programming (Python, R, etc) preferredStrong written and verbal communication skills - ability to communicate complex issues to senior leadershipGood understanding of financial drivers of company performance and must be able to quantify business impact from analyses.Ability to work in a complex decentralized organization and influence diverse functional partners towards decision and action.Experience working with a large global organization strongly preferredAbility to connect the dots on disparate pieces of reporting/analysis and formulate a cohesive understanding of business performance drivers (strong business analysis skills)Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing competing and changing prioritiesStrong people skills required to lead and inspire small teams of direct reports and consulting resources
