Job SummaryThe Manager of Teacher Development reports to the Director of Teacher Development and leads the implementation of the Skyline professional learning plan. The role coordinates district‑wide professional learning, ensures quality control for all internal and external learning initiatives, and manages a team of direct reports. Collaboration across Teaching & Learning, central office teams, and external partners is essential for scaling curriculum‑based professional learning throughout CPS.
Responsibilities- Support the Director of Teacher Development in designing and implementing professional development strategy for high‑quality curriculum adoption.
- Contribute to strategic planning around professional learning initiatives to support the district‑wide vision.
- Build the capacity of Teacher Development Specialists to support effective implementation of strategic models across all content areas and grade levels.
- Engage in regular progress monitoring and feedback cycles to deepen the impact of Teacher Development Specialists and professional learning.
- Supervise, develop, and manage a high‑functioning, collaborative team of professionals, meeting deadlines and expectations.
- Lead and oversee curriculum‑based professional learning (design and delivery) at scale for multiple CPS stakeholders, facilitating Skyline implementation across content areas and grade levels.
- Manage the quality‑control process for curriculum‑based Skyline professional learning throughout the district.
- Collaborate with Content Managers to ensure school‑facing supports reflect a coherent vision for teaching and learning.
- Facilitate regular meetings with Teacher Development Specialists, Content Specialists, and Curriculum Designers to identify priority areas for continuous improvement.
- Provide subject‑matter expertise on district‑wide initiatives, RFPs, and resource development.
- Manage vendor partnerships that support district priorities in professional learning and curriculum implementation.
- Stay abreast of innovative professional development techniques, strategies, and modalities.
- Model the intentional, effective use of instructional technology in professional learning contexts and daily work.
- Perform other duties and work streams as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited college or university is required. A valid Illinois State Board of Education teaching certificate with appropriate content and grade‑level endorsement is required. LBSI, ESL, or Bilingual Endorsement preferred. A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred. Google Certified Educator, Apple Distinguished Educator, or other educational technology certifications are preferred.
ExperienceRequired
Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience in education, leading design, facilitation, and evaluation of professional learning for adult learners. Minimum three (3) years of classroom teaching experience. Experience leading a high‑functioning professional learning team, program management, and adult learning strategy. Experience with curriculum adoption and district‑wide strategy preferred.
