Position: DIRECTOR OF TEACHING AND LEARNING

DIRECTOR OF TEACHING AND LEARNING

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Faculty Development Center, the Director of Teaching and Learning develops, organizes, and coordinates the delivery of a multi-modal, developmentally sequenced array of evidence-based education and training programs to enhance faculty effectiveness in teaching and resultant student learning.

The Director supervises one full-time employee (FTE) and student workers and is responsible for implementing the Center’s strategic plan related to teaching and learning, fostering collaboration within the Center and with faculty and campus partners.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Oversight
    :
    Implement the Center’s strategic plan, rooted in the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm, to provide holistic support for faculty professional development.
  • Leadership
    :
    Lead the teaching and learning support for the Center, including hiring, training, and developing professional staff and student workers.
  • Innovation
    :
    Stay current with evidence-based trends, evaluate their potential, and recommend implementation to the Executive Director.
  • Budgeting & Fundraising
    :
    Ensure cost-effective use of resources and support the Executive Director in pursuing grant funding.
  • Relationship Management
    :
    Maintain relationships with faculty and campus partners to provide services.
  • Provide high-quality professional development for faculty in teaching and learning.
  • Serve as a “one‑stop‑shop” for faculty professional development, partnering with units across the institution.
  • Conduct intakes with faculty seeking assistance and refer accordingly.
  • Develop, organize, and coordinate delivery of a multi-modal, developmentally sequenced array of evidence‑based programs.
  • Oversee daily activities, including providing programs and individualized support.
  • Assess outcomes of efforts and adjust accordingly to align with the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and professional development of staff and student workers.
  • Support the process for the faculty excellence awards and other duties as requested.
Minimum Education and Work Experience
  • Doctoral degree in higher education, instructional design, human relations, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience at the university level.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience in pedagogical development and supervisory skills in higher education.

Certificates/Credentials/Licenses & Computer Skills
