Purposeof the Job
The Senior Data Scientist should be able to work on multiple projects independently and/or collaborate with other team members. The Senior Data Scientist normally receives little instruction on day‑to‑day work and receives general instructions on new assignments. This position requires the individual to be very analytical, methodical and to have a passion for working with large amounts of data. The individual must ensure that analysis and modeling performed are free from errors or incorrect inferences.
EssentialFunctions
- Prioritizes, scopes and manages data science projects and the corresponding key performance indicators (KPIs) for success.
- Helps to define and communicate governance principles.
- Generates hypotheses about the underlying mechanics of the business process and tests hypotheses using various quantitative methods.
- Applies statistical analysis and visualization techniques to various data, such as hierarchical clustering, T‑distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t‑SNE), and principal components analysis (PCA).
- Applies various ML (machine learning) and advanced analytics techniques to perform classification or prediction tasks; integrates domain knowledge into the ML solution (e.g., financial risk, customer journey, quality prediction, sales, marketing).
- Tests ML models, such as cross‑validation, A/B testing, bias and fairness evaluations.
- Understands new data sources and process pipelines, catalogs and documents them, acquires access to various databases, and other source systems such as SQL or graph databases.
- Trains other business and IT staff on basic data science principles and techniques.
- Networks with internal and external partners.
- Promotes collaboration with other data science teams within the organization (if there is a decentralized data science practice).
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or related field.
- Five years of experience as a Data Scientist in a reputed organization.
Job Family:
Data Scientist, Senior Data Scientist, Lead Data Scientist. Salary range is $90,800 - $145,000.
