Position Overview

Veritas Classical Academy in Chippewa Valley, WI is looking for an Assistant Teacher. Join our team to support a classical, tuition‑free charter environment that emphasizes moral character, civic responsibility, and a content‑rich curriculum.

Core Responsibilities

Under the Lead Classroom Teacher’s direction, you will establish and maintain a safe, collaborative, celebratory, and intellectually challenging classroom that meets learning goals for all students.

  • Support and participate in the development and execution of units of study and lesson plans.
  • Help monitor and supervise effective classroom and school‑wide structures that promote active, student‑driven learning and positive student behavior and safety.
  • Help maintain an orderly, academically‑focused classroom environment and effective management of instructional materials and records.
  • Keep current in knowledge and practice of the curriculum, child development and relevant theories of learning, and be willing to share their knowledge for continual improvement of the school’s educational program and curriculum.
  • Assist in on‑going curriculum reviews, including offering feedback on school and program effectiveness.
  • Become acquainted with supplemental materials and services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities.
  • Build and maintain positive and engaging relationships with parents/families and work cooperatively with them to strengthen the educational program for their children.
  • Engage in effective community building, including rituals and traditions that build a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Participate in regular and ongoing professional development efforts and work collaboratively with grade level planning to constantly improve professional practice.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree, 48+ credits in college, or a passed Para Pro Praxis exam (or willingness to take).
  • Proficient use of office equipment: computer, multi‑phone and voice messaging systems, fax and copier.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and related computer programs: word processing, databases, spreadsheets, bookkeeping, email and internet; significant comfort learning and using new technology and software.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem‑solving skills.
  • Dedication to continuous learning, and personal and professional development.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive.
  • Completion of a background check is required.

Work Environment / Physical Demands
  • Office/classroom environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computers and/or related equipment.
  • Employee may occasionally push, pull, carry, lift or move equipment up to 20 pounds.
  • Stoop, kneel, crawl, bend, turn, twist, squat, and/or climb.
