Bethany School Innovation Teacher (Grades K-8) Summary
The Innovation Teacher facilitates project-based STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), AI (Artificial Intelligence), digital citizenship learning, and other emerging topics. They manage makerspaces, design interdisciplinary curricula focused on design thinking, and coach faculty on integrating 21st century technologies (such as coding and robotics) to foster critical and problem‑solving skills in young students.
Duties and Responsibilities- Curriculum Design: Develop and implement hands‑on, student‑centered lessons that blend traditional subjects with engineering and design thinking. Implement effective classroom management strategies aligned with school expectations.
- Makerspace Management: Oversee the innovation lab or makerspace, ensuring safe, effective use of materials like 3D printers, robotics kits, and coding tools.

Coaching:
Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate innovative instructional technologies and project-based methods into their daily routines. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Collaborate with homeroom teachers, special area teachers, and student support staff. - Skill Development: Empower students to embrace a growth mindset, learn from failure, and develop critical problem‑solving skills.
- Digital Literacy: Teach responsible digital citizenship and guide students in effectively accessing and evaluating information. Collaborate with the Technology Coordinator to support student and faculty technology needs across campus.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in education, instructional technology, or other related fields, required. Master's degree preferred.
- Ohio Teacher License required, or Resident Educator License, or Permanent Non‑tax certificate.
- Experience working in the K-8 school levels teaching educational technology or managing a makerspace.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and adaptability skills; proficiency in educational software and modern maker tools.
