Job Description

CAPITAL INDUSTRIES – a dynamic and growing custom engineering and manufacturing services company is seeking candidates with strong project management skills for its facility in Shelbyville, Indiana. Prime candidates will enjoy product variety and function within an environment contributing towards the development and manufacture of products that include heavy steel fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, electric motor power transmission, assembly and electrical control systems. Capital Industries focuses on the design and build of custom industrial equipment for manufacturers in most any market including, but not limited to, pharmaceutical, automotive, aerospace, and consumer products.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead project from receipt of purchase order through final installation, commissioning and final customer acceptance
  • Direct the project team to execute projects on schedule, at or below budget, delivering the contracted scope of work
  • Act as key customer contact for assigned projects; responsible for customer satisfaction
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all customer and team meetings, action items, and results while ensuring contractual obligations are met
  • Manage project risks including, but not limited to, schedule, budget, resources, and performance expectations
  • Develop and implement Risk Mitigation Plan(s) to ensure that operations staff are made aware of resource risks and propose solutions, escalate as required to maintain project schedule and mitigate risk to the schedule and budget
  • Establish and maintain effective and comprehensive communications across both internal and external teams
  • Plan and conduct all project related meetings from internal and customer KO to Design reviews, Initial Project Build Plan and debug acceptance plan strategizing meetings
  • Working with the financial analyst/accounting, ensure all billing and invoicing notices are submitted on time. Alert accounting to upcoming milestones and advise of the percentage of on-time accomplishment
  • Encourage and mentor employees to ensure that the build team’s morale and efficiency is maintained at the highest level
  • Pro-actively handle customer concerns, provide high level of communication
  • Travel up to 30% of the time to customer locations for machine run-off/installation (mostly domestic - some international)

Requirements:

  • Post- secondary college diploma, engineering degree or equivalent, specializing in electronics, electrical, mechanical or controls engineering; Completion of or in the process of achieving the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is a plus
  • Must have experience managing multi-zone automation projects in excess of $5 million with multiple disciplinary teams
  • Must have acted in a project management role with a minimum of five years’ experience in a variety of projects/markets on a multidiscipline team
  • Must have a practical working knowledge of robots, PLC’s, instrumentation or other machine controls packages, sensors and pneumatics
  • An ability to work effectively with customers according to deadlines and under pressure-filled conditions is essential
  • 5 years Mechanical Design Engineer experience
  • 5 additional years Project Management experience
  • Medical device assembly experience, a process engineering background, a superior controls aptitude and proven trouble-shooting skills are a plus
