What You Will Do – Essential Functions

This position will be dedicated to the USPS EAP Program. The USPS Clinical Consultant will provide comprehensive EAP services, including short‑term counseling/problem solving, educational and training activities, referral, monitoring, behavioral health consultation, critical incident response and follow‑up. The USPS Clinical Consultant is responsible for providing services in‑person, telephonically or via video and must be able to call on their clinical training and experience to respond professionally to a wide range of presenting concerns, including high‑risk or emergent situations that may arise or present with little advance notice.

Please note the position is hybrid and requires local travel and in‑office time. The USPS office location is in Cincinnati, Ohio.

  • Direct Counseling & Clinical Support
    • Deliver individual counseling and coaching through in‑person, phone, and video sessions for diverse employee concerns.
    • Handle high‑acuity, crisis, and critical‑incident situations using sound clinical judgment in real time.
  • Provide telephonic triage, consultation, and referrals for routine to complex cases via the Service Center.
  • Offer consultation, training, and assistance to USPS and union leadership.
Program Promotion & Operational Coverage
  • Actively promote EAP services and deliver psychological first aid during workforce‑impacting events.
  • Participate in rotational or overflow call coverage to ensure continuous service and meet contractual requirements.

Who You Are

  • Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated capability to complete accurate bio‑psychosocial assessments, including risk and substance abuse assessments.
  • Specialized experience and/or training in phone and video counseling.
  • Counselors will be knowledgeable about federal and state laws governing privacy, confidentiality, duty to warn, and child and elder abuse reporting requirements.
  • The Clinical Consultant will be bound by the laws of confidentiality and will discuss no specific clinical information with the referring supervisor unless the client has signed an authorization to use and disclose form authorizing the…
