Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Formulating Chemist to drive the R&D of high-performance polymer systems for industrial and commercial flooring use. You will design and optimize thermoset chemistries—specifically epoxies, urethanes, and polyaspartics—ensuring products meet rigorous standards for chemical resistance, thermal stability, and moisture mitigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Development: Design next-generation resinous systems, including self-leveling epoxies, urethane cements, and fast-curing coatings.
  • Performance Optimization: Enhance UV stability, abrasion resistance, and bond tenacity in existing product lines.
  • Specialized Solutions: Develop advanced formulas for niche environments, such as cleanroom-grade materials and heavy-duty decorative systems.
  • Field Innovation: Formulate with the applicator in mind, focusing on low-odor (VOC) profiles and versatile cure windows.
  • Testing & Validation: Conduct ASTM testing for thermal shock, moisture vapor transmission (MVT), and chemical immersion.
  • Manufacturing Support: Oversee the transition from lab-scale to full production to ensure batch consistency.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience: 5+ years in industrial coatings or resin formulation.
  • Expertise: Deep knowledge of epoxy novolacs, polyurethane concrete, and polyaspartic chemistries.
  • Regulatory: Proficiency in VOC compliance and environmental standards.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with moisture mitigation and high-build decorative systems.
  • Knowledge of pigment dispersions and aggregate integration.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot field performance issues and refine formulas.
