Job Summary:
The Foundry Lead is critical to the success of their department and the overall success of Diversified Mold & Castings. They are responsible for training, coaching, and supervising departmental employees. Effectively and professionally communicate and interact with department team members, all facets of management, customers, and other department teams at the company to meet production goals and address any production issues that may arise. Being a small company, Leads are expected to produce on average 50% of their work day and lead the other 50%. They must have advanced skills in their area of expertise, delegate duties to team members, and be able to effectively and efficiently train others to:

Job Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate schedules with other department leads, 1st shift to 2nd shift and overtime to meet scheduled ship dates
Perform a combination of tasks to include the melting of metals, pouring melted metals into molds, removing castings from molds, packing sand molds, moving sand, castings and other foundry materials
Pack sand molds and pour molten metals into sand molds
Coating, ramming, closing, furnace operations, and shakeout
Measure out correct amounts of materials for furnace and loads charge
Skim slag from surface of molten metal
Clean castings and patterns
Remove gates, sprues and other projections from castings
Break up sand molds and slag
Possess or ability to acquire and maintain knowledge to correctly set up gating and risers for various sand molds. ie: rotational, thermoform, and pattern castings
Visually be able to inspect procedures, determine any issues and defects and correct them
Work with other Department Leads to notify of processes that did not turn out correct and to stop any future jobs from being affected
Ability to proactively troubleshoot problems
Inspect set up, packing, coating, and closing of all jobs
Ensure company policies and rules are upheld by team members
Complete annual performance evaluations for employees in your department
Complete inventory counts monthly
Ensure your department is clean and orderly

Requirements:
Advanced knowledge of department, willingness and ability to work, lead and train others

Work Environment:
Typical manufacturing environment including loud noise levels, heat and dirt; steel-toed shoes and safety glasses are a must, face shields and respirators as required

Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand, sit and bend for long periods of time, lift 50-75 pounds and physical capability to properly handle tooling and safely set up large pieces

High School,   3 to 4 Years work experience
