About the RoleWe’re hiring a Quarry Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on the Aggregate Division’s truck fleet and equipment. This role focuses on diagnosing mechanical issues, minimizing downtime, and ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently to support ongoing operations. This is a full‑time position that requires travel between multiple aggregate sites.
What You’ll Do- Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment and fleet vehicles, including wheel loaders, haul trucks (rigid and articulated), excavators, dozers, skid steers, and over‑the‑road dump trucks
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing to minimize equipment downtime
- Run diagnostic tests and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and drivetrain issues
- Build and assemble machines or mechanical components as required
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and parts inventory
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of tools and equipment
- Follow all safety regulations and company procedures
- Travel to multiple sites as required
- Work outside of normal business hours as operational needs require
- Maintain regular in‑person attendance
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, or up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Prolonged periods of standing and working in shop and field environments
- Ability to safely access and navigate quarry facilities, including climbing and descending ladders
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of five years of experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance
- Valid Class B CDL with Air Brakes
- Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrain systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and brakes
- Welding and burning skills preferred; certification a plus
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and tools effectively
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with supervisors and team members
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment
