Overview
CDM Smith is looking for an excited candidate to join our team in Bryan, TX. This opportunity is suitable for a new graduate looking to start a career in the construction industry, offering a role that includes technical, field, and site administration responsibilities. The position involves work across pursuit, planning and execution, and close-out phases with collaboration among project team members, subcontractors, clients, and vendors.
Responsibilities- During the pursuit phase, assist in reviewing documents, preparing deliverables, and participating in pre-bid site visits.
- Assist in determining total project costs by evaluating complex proposals and researching labor, material, and equipment costs.
- Develop a preliminary schedule for engineering and construction.
- Develop General Conditions based on requirements specified in the bidding documents, including required staff, temporary facilities, security, and safety measures.
- In the planning and execution phase, work with the project team, subcontractors, client, owners, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and safe project completion.
- Coordinate the timely arrival and installation of materials and equipment with field personnel and vendors.
- Prepare and review submittals of increasing complexity, issue construction documents and layouts to field crews, respond to questions, and process requests for information (RFI).
- Supervise and direct overall project activities of basic to moderate complexity and interpret specifications and drawings for foremen and superintendents.
- Conduct inspections to maintain Quality Control (QC) reporting for project sites.
- Collaborate with Health and Safety professionals to evaluate safety performance metrics of potential subcontractors and vendors as part of the procurement process.
- During project close-out, work with the Project Manager to complete all contract-required deliverables and follow close-out procedures; close all subcontract and purchase orders; develop final record drawings and as-builts; ensure all close-out submittals are documented and approved.
- Assist the team to complete final inspections, finalize punch lists, and ensure client satisfaction.
- As project needs arise and after appropriate training, coordinate with the Automation and Electrical Self-Perform team to manage control panel fabrication, submittals, procurement, and testing on various projects.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Experience level appropriate for a new graduate seeking to start a career in construction; strong willingness to learn and adapt to project needs.
- Ability to review documents, prepare deliverables, and participate in site visits; strong organizational and communication skills.
- Familiarity with scheduling, cost evaluation, submittals, RFIs, and close-out procedures preferred.
- Comfort working with project teams, subcontractors, clients, and vendors; ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
- Safety-minded with ability to collaborate with health and safety professionals.
