Security Officer in Training (Part-Time)

College Station, Texas

$15.29 per hour

• Primary hours:
  Saturday and Sunday 7:30a.m.–4:00p.m. (30‑minute lunch break)
• Maximum 19 hours per week
• May work non‑business hours shifts from 4:00p.m. to 8:00a.m.
• Must operate two‑wheel (or three‑wheel) self‑balancing mobile patrol unit

• Patrol buildings and grounds on foot, motor vehicle, and self‑balancing mobile patrol unit to detect suspicious activity, unlocked doors, fires, and vandalism
• Act as a deterrent to criminal activity by presence and make decisions on security issues during non‑business hours
• Provide on‑site security in specific buildings such as libraries, athletic facilities, and research laboratories, including off‑campus Texas A&M properties
• Assist visitors, students, and employees with inquiries and direct them to appropriate personnel
• Support University Police during special events such as football games and yell practice
• Perform additional duties as assigned

• High school graduate or equivalent training and experience
• Ability to obtain a Texas State Class “C” vehicle operator’s license within 30 days of employment
• Physical and mental ability to work outdoors, shift work, and varying days off
• Ability to work with reduced managerial oversight and communicate effectively with all campus populations
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

All applicants must successfully complete a background investigation including driving history, criminal background, and credit history.
