POSITION SUMMARYThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for creating a safe and secure environment by maintaining the buildings, grounds, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner, consistent with regulations and established policies, procedures and best practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Performs a wide variety of general building maintenance repairs and services.
• Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned.
• Work within expense limits established.
• Maintain inventory controls for cost effective operations.
• Schedule and complete the "Preventative Maintenance Program".
• Coordinate special projects as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
• Assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors.
• Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance on-call service as scheduled.
• Carry pager/cell phone as required for on-call maintenance.
• Monitor and maintain all building systems as assigned.
• Complete grounds work as directed by Maintenance Manager which may include picking up trash, sweeping curb and dumpster areas and maintaining landscaping beds and other areas.
• Maintain monthly inspection and maintenance of building boilers, HVAC roof motors, fans, and generators.
• Responsible for alerting the Maintenance Manager of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that have taken place or that may occur.
• Maintain a professional courteous manner with all patients /residents, vendors, contractors, and fellow employees.
• Assure safety standards are used which comply with all District policy, local, City, State and Federal guidelines.
• Ensure compliance of all work-related activities in a fair, ethical, and consistent manner.
• Special projects and other responsibilities may be determined as needed.
• Attends meetings and in-service sessions, as directed.
• Maintains confidentiality of hospital and patient/family information.
• Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current Driver’s License
- Must have a minimum of 5 years’ facility plant experience or equivalent certification/training in a technical field.
- Associate Degree or Higher
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively with teams and leadership while demonstrating a high level of integrity, sound judgment, and attention to detail. This role requires professionalism in all interactions with employees, patients, and the public, along with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all SECHD, state, and federal policies and regulations. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to change, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
The candidate must communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with a professional and compassionate demeanor. Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software systems are required. Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations is preferred. Dependability, initiative, and the ability to see tasks through to completion are critical, as is a commitment to safety, quality, and working under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours.
