Location: Gunnison Valley Health – Gunnison, CO
Hours: Minimum 100 hours (approx. 8–10 hours/week, flexible scheduling)
Compensation: Unpaid / Academic Credit Eligible (depending on institution requirements)
- Understand the role of brand strategy in a nonprofit healthcare system
- Gain experience in planning and executing outreach initiatives that improve public health awareness and education
- Strengthen skills in communications, event planning, and community partnerships
Intern Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the GVH Director of Marketing & Communications, the intern will:
- Assist in the development and distribution of branded materials (flyers, social media graphics, event signage, etc.)
- Support planning, promotion, and presence at community outreach events (e.g. health fairs, wellness workshops, school visits)
- Conduct outreach to local organizations, schools, and partners to promote GVH services and initiatives
- Attend department meetings and contribute creative ideas for improving community connection and reinforcing brand experience
- Optional:
Develop a capstone presentation or project summarizing learning outcomes and impact
Preferred Qualifications
- Current undergraduate student in Communications, Marketing, Public Health, Business, or related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in healthcare, events, branding and communication
- Ability to work well independently and with groups
- Real-world experience in healthcare communications and public outreach
- Professional development through mentorship and cross-departmental collaboration with an emphasis on branding, events and communications
- Portfolio-building projects and possible recommendation letter upon successful completion
- Flexible hours to accommodate class schedules
