Light Maintenance Technician JLL
What this job involves The Light Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of building maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the proper functioning and upkeep of facilities. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills across multiple building systems while working alongside experienced JLL engineering professionals. You'll play a vital role in maintaining facility operations, responding to tenant needs, and ensuring buildings remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.
As a versatile team member, you'll gain hands-on experience with interior repairs, lighting systems, plumbing, equipment maintenance, and more, contributing directly to tenant satisfaction and property performance. This position requires openness to learning new skillsets from experienced JLL engineering team members and flexible scheduling as business needs evolve.
What your day to day will look like:
Perform light maintenance activities at client sites including filter changes, lighting repairs, site inspections, furniture and office builds, and other routine maintenance tasks to ensure facility readiness.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues while performing general building maintenance including property interior and exterior carpentry, drywall, light electrical work, light plumbing, and painting.
Execute commercial door repairs including electrified locks, panic hardware, mortise systems, and automatic/manual sliding doors to maintain building security and accessibility.
Assist with HVAC system maintenance and repairs while conducting regular inspections of premises and equipment to identify potential issues before they become problems.
Complete assigned work orders in CMMS and maintain appropriate service documentation to ensure accurate tracking of maintenance activities and building history.
Assist the engineering team in the maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment while participating in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs to continuously develop your skills.
Participate in rotating on-call schedule for after-hours emergency response, addressing facility emergencies, system failures, and urgent maintenance issues to maintain uninterrupted building operations and tenant comfort.
Required Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship and valid driver's license
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or maintenance experience in a commercial or residential setting
Experience with preventative maintenance procedures and routine equipment inspections
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats with tenants, vendors, and team members
Proficiency in basic computer applications and software such as MS Office, Slack, email, and mobile applications
Proficiency in using various hand and power tools safely and effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications in specific trade areas such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or facilities maintenance
Experience with building automation systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Knowledge of energy conservation practices and sustainable building operations
Trade school education, technical vocational training, or military service with facilities maintenance experience
Strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to take initiative in addressing facility issues
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various physical conditions including heights, confined spaces, and outdoor…
